After doing a polysomnography (sleep study) at Nowon Hana ENT last time, this time I decided to do a CPAP titration test.

1. CPAP Titration Test

The cost was the same as last time, about 130,000 won.

The procedure is the same, the only difference is that you wear a CPAP machine.

I was assigned a similar room at the same time as last time.

There’s a CPAP machine in one corner of the room like this.

That device applies pressure to the airway so that when you stop breathing, it makes you breathe.

They attached sensors to my body, and I lay down with the CPAP on.

Since the nasal interface for breathing comes in various sizes, I hope you’ll choose one that fits your own nose.

In my case, my nose is on the larger side, so I just used the default mask that was attached and I could barely breathe, it was really tough.

Since I couldn’t breathe, more than anything, I just couldn’t fall asleep.

Please be sure to tell the nurse to give you a slightly larger mask.

I kept praying and praying in my mind for time to pass quickly and somehow finally fell asleep.

And then the next morning at 5:30 a.m.

Just like before, I walked out of the hospital through the parking lot on B1.

2. CPAP Use Adaptation Period

The test results came out the very next day.

And I brought home a CPAP machine and a personal mask.

Of course, I chose the largest mask size.

The precaution is that you must wear it at least 4 hours a day, for more than 20 consecutive days within 90 days.

During this CPAP adaptation period, the patient’s share of the monthly cost is 50%, about 40,000 won, and after adapting it drops to somewhere in the mid-10,000 won range.

If you don’t complete 20 consecutive days, you’ll incur the non-covered rental cost of about 80,000 won.

Every night I sleep with the CPAP on like this.

What’s amazing is that when I sleep like this, I don’t snore.

I can feel myself sleeping more refreshingly than before.

Since I received the CPAP on the 13th, there hasn’t been a single night in seven days that I slept without it.

At this point I don’t think I can sleep without the CPAP.

Before using CPAP, when I lay flat on my back I couldn’t fall asleep because my breathing would get blocked, but now I’m also happy that I can fall asleep comfortably.
